It was an unusually cold, gloomy day, and rainy to the point the wolf had thought it better to keep safe, dug under the crotch of a large tree. He hated wet fur, everything about it. The moisture locked in his pelt and gave him an uncomfortable weight and shiftiness whenever he walked, but worse was the coldness. He hated being cold. His brother, when they were younger, all thought it fun to play down by the river when Mother was out hunting. And that was fine in the summer, refreshing in fact, to bath in the coolness. But when the cold air crept through the trees, the pups whined and shivered and howled and grew quite tired
